How is meditation used during Mindful Revolution’s
Yoga classes?
A guided meditation will be used during the class in three
different ways.
At the beginning of yoga class your instructor will ask you
to ‘set an intent’ for the entire class. This intent
may be a short statement (“I am happy,” “I
am learning,” “I am relaxed”, etc.) or a longer
statement (“I forgive myself for my mistakes today,”
“I am letting go of my fear of trying something new,”
etc.). This intent will be the focus of your yoga practice for
that day.
Throughout class you will also be asked to bring awareness
to your breath. Focusing on the breath enables you to focus
the mind on the present moment and also enables you to stay
relaxed through more strenuous poses.
Lastly, during Savasana (final relaxation), your instructor
will guide you through a relaxation meditation that will enable
your body to cool down and revitalize you at the end of class.
