How do I prepare for yoga class?
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move, breathe, and bend unrestrained.
- Bring your own yoga mat and remember that a sticky mat is helpful since yoga is typically done in bare feet.
- Drink plenty of water before class and come with an empty stomach. Yoga is best practiced at least a few hours after a meal. Remember to drink plenty of water after class to re-hydrate your body.
- Your yoga class is a time to relax and de-stress, and it
may be the only time to get in a quiet moment during the day. Keep conversations low when entering and leaving the class to maintain a meditative state.
- Let your instructor know if you have any health conditions or injuries before class starts. Your instructor will
be able to offer alternate poses and suggestions for poses
for you to do at home in order to help you heal.
- Yoga is not competitive. Don’t worry if you’re
not as flexible as other people in the class. With a little practice
and patience you will soon improve.
